With
a five years experience by Merchant Marine Officer, on board general cargo and tanker
ships, he got a Master’s Certificate for ocean going crafts.
He performed also a 1,5 years experience on board Navy Ships as Levy Officer.
Then,
in 1965 and untill 1996, he entered in
Italian Coast Guard Corps and performed his duty reaching all the ranks until the last one
of Rear Admiral. Then he retired.
During
31 years duty he was also the Commander of
rescue boat fit for storms (3 years) and also he was ashore Commanding Officer for eleven years.
Obviously, he got all experiences
connected with theorical , technical and pratical aspects of his former jobs, so as with
the matters of the latter, which gave him a special education in the following areas:
Safety of life at sea
He got a complete knowledge of all SOLAS Rules, Memorandum of Paris, et cetera, refined with the charge to apply as National Authority representative.
Training Radar courses Instructor (Theoretical study of components and Kinematics problems).
Sea and Harbour damages and
disasters.
Efficiency and maintenance of ships
Lately he was for five years responsible (as Zone Commander) for the efficiency and safety of all the Patrol Vessel assingned to Venezia and Chioggia Coast Guard Offices.
Pollution and Antipullution problems
Experienced in big oil and chemical products pollutions and coastal antipollution interventions.
Course
by Rotterdam International Safety Center (RISC).
Expert
in the use of Administration skimmers and floating barrier-boats.
Administration of State Coastal Properties
Specially
about procedures to get Maritime Demensne, Marinas, et cetera, in this field he has a wide
culture and experiences, having released several expertises, complaints, et cetera.
Knowledge of foreign languages
He
speaks and writes well English and French; he has a practical knowledge (only spoken) of
Spanish.
